Buddy's Cage

I received Buddy as a birthday gift from Bob in 2000. Buddy was my first pet, besides fish. Therefore, I call him my "first fuzzy". We decided that Buddy's birthday was July 26, 2000. He began living illegally with me in my dorm room at Purdue University. The next year, I became an RA, so he moved in with Bob's parents for the year. After that, he and Bob were bachelors together in Lafayette until Bob and I were married.
Most of these pictures of Buddy were from when he was very young.

Buddy, like many pigs, was very fond of vegetables. Broccoli and celery were two of his favorites. He also enjoyed apples and bananas.

During the summer of 2004, Buddy began to have some dental problems. The vet had to file his teeth down because they were growing at an angle and he couldn't wear them down himself. A couple months later, Buddy's front tooth broke off, because he enjoyed extensive chewing of the cage bars. He died after a heartbreaking day during which an unknown object blocked his airway. Buddy's final resting place is beneath a tree in our backyard. We planted an orange impatiens for him and it is growing nicely.
