HP Tuners

I recently purchased a used version of HP Tuners with unlimited tuning capability for 2000 F-Bodies (V8). Since it was an older serial connection version, I had to purchase a USB/serial converter. I chose Keyspan 19-HS based on the recommendations of other users. I also purchased a power inverter to power the laptop in the car. I will be listing the modifications that I am making, and how to do them in HP Tuners for other that are interested. Most of the information about tuning modifcations is from the HP Tuners Forum.

Gear Change

To change the speedometer calibration for a different rear end gear ratio, go to --> Speedometer --> Speedometer, and enter the new gear ratio in the box at the top of the screen (4.10 in my case), enter the new tire size (enter the current value if it is unchanged - for my 2000 WS6 the factory value was 24.91), and then click "Commit". This will automatically scale all of the appropriate values in the tuning software.

EGR Code Delete

The most simple way to delete the EGR system codes is to disable the EGR system under -->Engine -->Optional. However, I plan to wire a wideband o2 sensor into the EGR wiring so that I can log the wideband, so the EGR system must be left enabled to do this. Therefore, I changed the following error modes to "3 - No Error Reported" under -->Engine Diagnostics --> DTCs :
