Cam Swap
Here are some pictures of the parts for the cam swap that I did. I went with a a Comp 224/230 .581/.588 114 LSA cam,
Comp 918 valvesprings (new style), Thunder Racing 7.425" heat treated chrome-moly pushrods,
a Texas Speed & Performance ported LS6 oil pump, and an LS2 timing chain.
I also decided to install an underdrive crank pulley at the same time,
and I purchased a Powerbond 25% underdrive pulley. I purchased a new front cover seal, water pump gaskets,
an oil pump o-ring,and a crank pulley bolt. I also purchased 4 extra valve locks just in case I lost some during the
swap, but fortunately I did not need them.
I used
LS1Howto F-Body Cam & Valvespring Swap as my primary source of information for my cam swap, and I found several other
useful bits of information on LS1Tech. As for tools, I made my own lifter holder tool with 5/16" metal rods,
I already had a compression tester hose & air compressor for pressurizing the cylinders during the valvespring swap,
I purchased a crank pulley installer tool (threaded rod, washers, & nuts), I borrowed a crank pulley removal tool,
and I borrowed a valve spring compressor. I wanted/needed to get the cam swap done in one weekend, so I
didn't get to take many pictures during the removal and reinstallation.
