Clutch Swap
I replaced the stock clutch with an RPS Stage II Clutch, and the
stock flywheel with a lightweight Fidanza flywheel. Once everything
was disassembled, I found a bolt with a broken head on the flywheel,
which had to be tapped, and the flywheel bolts were replaced with
new ones.
While everything was torn apart, I also replaced the fuel filter, had the capacitors replaced in my ECU,
and flushed the coolant and added Redline Water Wetter.
I also added a new horn, which is much better (louder) than the puny stock horn.
Also, while the car was disassembled, I took the opportunity to clean the intercoolers,
and straighten the fins on them. There was pretty heavy damage to the fins on the
intercoolers, and the pics below show how badly the fins were smashed, and the airflow
through them had to be very poor. The fins were straightened as much as possible, and
as necessary, small pieces of the fins were removed, when they could not be straightened.
The main reference used for the clutch swap was
Stealth 316 - AWD Transaxle and Clutch Replacement.
